Origin
In 1918, the Hotelier and casino business man François André has the idea to copy his Deauville concept of Luxury Hotels in combination with sports equipment and Casinos in La Baule. In 1923 he buys the already existing Hotel Royal La Baule and the Casino.
Opening of the Hotel
The Hotel Hermitage in La Baule was built in 1895. It opens as a health center for children. In 1902 the establisment reopens as the Hotel Royal.<ref>History of La Baule-Escoublac on the website of the Tourist and Convention Bureau / Office du Tourisme</ref>
Different Owners
In 1923 the Hotel was bought by Francois André founder of the Lucien Barriere Hotel and Casino Chain. The Lucien Barriere chain is still the owner of the Hotel. you can add info here ...
