Hans Badrutt is the Sun of the Founder of the Palace Hotel, Caspar Badreutt.

Hans Badrutt was born in St Moritz as the son of Caspar and Ursulina Badrutt.
It was the I3th of November I976, the year Alexander Bell invented the phone.
As a young boy he had to help at the Hotel his father beeing sick often.

Hans Badrutt was trained in Paris with Cesar Ritz and Auguste Escoffier
and in London with Louis Echenard ot he Savoy.
In I898 his father died ans Hans Badrutt took over the Management of the
Palace at age 22.
In I907 Hans married Mary Ganzoni, who gave him 3 children but tragically died in I903.

Hans Badrutt saw his first duty as offering his guest a home away from home,
appreciating them as people and pampering them in every possible way.
I907/I908 Hans Badrutt adds two floors to the main building
I9I3 Construction of the Main Dining Room

Closure of the Hotel loomed during the first World War,
there are pratically no guest from abroad,
howether Hans Badrutt decided to keep the Hotel open.
To achive this he had to transform the Hotel into a Company
and sell 20% of the shares to Investors.

Time change with the "Roring Twenties"
Record year in I928 with the Winter Olympics held in St Moritz.
Construction of the Grill Room and the Mezzanine Floor above.

I929 Wall Street crash with devastating effects on the Luxury Hotel Industry.

I935 Hans Badrutt buys the Chesa Veglia

during World War II Hotel manages to remain open

2nd Olympic Games in I948
Palace Hotel becomes Worldfamous

Hans Badrutt dies in I953
The Hotel Management is taken over by his 2nd wife Helen
with help of his 2 sons Andrea and Hansjürg
